Do you find firewalls difficult???? Not anymore! 
With Ubuntu, you can enhance your network security in a very easy way, using possibly the easiest firewall you might find out there.
How? Install Gufw:
- You can install the latest version, 11.04 beta, from here (It’s for Ubuntu 11.04, but works in Ubuntu 10.10).
- If you want to install the stable version (10.10), click on Applications menu > Ubuntu Software Center > Featured applications and install Firewall Configuration.
Now, open Gufw: System menu > Administration > Firewall Configuration, and Unlock it.
Your firewall is disabled by default. How can you enable it? Just tick Enabled!
Your computer is now protected! It was easy, right?
Now, if you use P2P or torrent applications, then you will need to open the specific ports they need to get a better performance. Let’s open the Transmission ports, as an example. How? Easy: Add the preconfigured rule for Transmission.
Do you want more? Go to Edit menu > Preferences.
Enable Listening Report and Show Notifications.
You’ll get notifications for the new connections.
