The Beginners Team has been around in the community for over 3 years. In those 3 years it has grown from a small group of people helping out on the Ubuntu Community Forums to a team that not only helps new users with Ubuntu but helps them get involved in the community.
Our Mission Statement:

The Ubuntu Beginners Team exists to enhance the initial experience of new Ubuntu users and to guide existing Ubuntu users to become part of the global Ubuntu community.

Focus Groups
The Beginners Team is made up of Focus Groups. Each Focus Group is dedicated to a particular area of the community. When a user joins the Beginners Team they pick an area of interest and as a prospective member are assigned a mentor from that Focus Group. The mentor and prospect work together to raise the prospects level of proficiency in that area of the community. When the prospect has shown sufficient dedication and knowledge in their area of interest the prospects mentor nominates them for membership in the Beginners Team.
Give Back
One thing about joining the Beginners Team is that we are a team of mentors. When you join the Beginners Team you are not only getting involved in the community but you are becoming a mentor yourself. Once you master your area of interest, as a Beginners Team member you then start mentoring your own prospective members.
Join Us
If this sounds like something you are interested in we would love to have you join our team. The Beginners Team has many varied opportunities for users to participate in the community. Whether you are just getting started in the community or are a community veteran interested in teaching others we welcome you to join us.
