Ubuntu Cloud Portal: Charm Contest, Week One!

Lots going on in juju land. We’ve got two new official charms in the charm store. The first is Stackmobile, which allows you to host your own mobile site for the Stack Exchange family of websites. The second is the slick LodgeIt, a pastebin written in Python. Both of these charms are from Nathan Osman as part of the Charm Contest.

We’ve seen a few interesting charms being worked on in the repository, though not complete yet:

  • Les Orchard has started work on a charm for the Firefox Sync Server. This would allow you to easily run your own sync server for use with Firefox.
  • Khairul Aizat Kamarudzzaman has started work on the PHP Symfony framework.
  • James Mitchell modified a bunch of charms to use for his work deployments and talked about it on this post to the mailing list.
  • Juan Negron is working on a charm for distcc so you can easily deploy a compile farm.

What about things I want to deploy?

The charm contest is open to anyone who wants to submit a service to be easily deployable on Ubuntu. Here’s the list of what we have now and here’s a list of things that could use charms. If there’s something you want to work on feel free to let us know!

Need some training? We have a webinar this Thursday at 5PM GMT (that’s 9am for you US West Coasters).
